Kayaking at HYC – Summer 2023

Meet our Instructor:

Our qualified instructor, Bryan, is a Physical Education Teacher, Sea Kayaking Instructor and keen Hillwalker based in North County Dublin, originally from Waterford. Bryan is passionate for the great outdoors and loves exploring remote islands and mountains. He is working his way through visiting the Islands of Ireland by kayak and the Irish Arderins and Scottish Munros by foot.

As a Leave No Trace Accredited Trainer he has a great desire to protect both marine and hilltop environments by spreading the Leave No Trace message to those he meets.

Bryan started kayaking in his teenage years as a junior lifeguard in Bunmahon, Co. Waterford and progressed to Sea Kayaking with coaching from Shearwater Sea Kayaking in Howth. Bryan has been working with Shearwater Sea Kayaking since 2014. Bryan’s kayaking qualifications include Canoeing Ireland’s Level 4 Sea Kayaking Skills Award and Level 3 Sea Kayaking Instructor. He is currently in training for Level 5 Sea Kayaking Skills Award and will be starting Level 3 River Skills and Open Canoe Skills Awards in September 2023.
